Coffee

Do you roast your own coffee beans?
Yes, in fact we originally started as a roasting company before opening the Mad River Coffee House. We currently roast more than 1,000 pounds a week on a US Roaster Corp 18 kg roaster. You’ll typically find us roasting our coffee on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The aroma is amazing!

Where is your coffee sourced from?
We source our green coffee from around the world, focusing on coffee beans from Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil, India, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. These beans build our custom blends that produce coffees low in acidity and high in flavor and body.

Why is Mad River Coffee better than what I can buy at the grocery store, Target, or on Amazon?
Our coffee is blended to create a cup that is rich, full-bodied, and easy to drink. Not only are you getting freshly roasted coffee, you’re getting quality beans from farms that support their communities.

And, we don’t like to brag, but we’ve been voted “Best Cup of Coffee North of Concord” multiple times in the NH Business Review’s Best of Business Awards. Check out our Google Reviews, too!

I want to order some coffee. How is it packaged?
Our coffee beans are packaged in 1 lb., 2 lb., and 5 lb. bags that are specially designed to hold in freshness. They are multi-layered bags with valves that release gas from the roasting process. Sealed, these bags will keep your coffee fresh for up to six months.

When you order coffee from Mad River Coffee, you can choose from whole bean, ground drip, french press, or pour over.

Where can I find your coffee?
Our coffees can be found throughout New Hampshire. Best of all, our coffee is available on our website to be sent directly to your home or business.

Do you sell any coffee equipment?
We sell both retail and wholesale coffee equipment.

On the retail side, we carry the Airscapes line. These innovative canisters release gasses and oxygen from the containers and are wonderfully effective at keeping the beans super fresh.

On the wholesale side, we are a certified Bunn and Fetco dealer. When you open a wholesale account, we may be able to provide or assist you in purchasing coffee equipment products.

What’s the best way to brew Mad River Coffee at home?
Coffee is personal. It’s a daily ritual for many people.

We believe it should be brewed how you like it best. There is not one “right” way. Whether you’re a pour over connoisseur, committed to your daily drip coffee, or passionate about your percolator, there’s a grind for you! (Melissa prefers hers brewed for her-before she gets out of bed!)

Which grind size or settings would you recommend?
We recommend picking the grind that matches your brewing preferences.

  • Paper Filter: This covers any paper filter and brewing style (e.g., cone, pour over, drip).
  • Metal Filter: A slightly coarse grind for a Keurig or reusable filter.
  • French Press: Slightly coarser still, to reduce sediment in your cup.
  • Percolator: The big boy of grinds, it’s as coarse as it gets!
  • Espresso: Super fine grind for proper extraction.
