We are celebrating! Mad River Coffee Roasters is turning 20 years old on February 22, 2025, and we want to invite you to join us in a day of fun and music. This milestone is not just about coffee; it’s a celebration of the community we’ve built together over two decades.

During our celebration bash, we’ll have live music from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., generously sponsored by Eastern Propane.
10 a.m.-1p.m. Singer Song Writer Round Robin: Audrey Drake, Pete Downing, Harmony Markey, and Holly Furlone will be singing, telling stories, and collaborating during the morning.
3-5 p.m. J3ST will take you through Après Ski with cool grooves & jams. Scott Solsky on 7-string guitar, Tom Robinson on Hammond B-3 organ, and Jared Steer on drums.
5:30-7 p.m. Steve McBrian and Mo Manning bring an eclectic blend of Folk, Jazz, and Country. They always put the crunchy in their shows!
7:30-9 p.m. Hall of Mirrors, with Emmy-nominated composer/guitarist Randy Roos, Tim Gilmore, Steve Hunt, and Mike Rossi end the night with wild jazz-infused fun.

For those looking to enjoy the outdoors, we’ll have cozy fire pits and igloos set up for you to gather with friends, and from 1-2 p.m., we’ll be serving Sugar on Snow. This classic New England treat is one you won’t want to miss. To top it all off, at 5 p.m., Tartaglia’s Pizza Truck will be firing up their ovens in the parking lot to serve their famous pizza. Throughout the day, there will be exciting raffles with prizes like a growler of coffee, ski tickets, 20th Anniversary merch, and coffee. Check out our event poster or visit our event page for all the details!

On our anniversary, we’ll also be raising funds for “Keep the Heat On,” a fuel assistance program through the Plymouth Area Community Closet. Last year, this organization helped more than 175 families in the greater Plymouth area with vouchers averaging $400 each for oil, propane, cordwood, or pellets. As winter settles in and temperatures drop, heating bills can be overwhelming. Keep the Heat On helps our friends and neighbors manage these expenses, making a genuine difference between a miserable winter and a happy, loving, stress-free family.
We’ll have a donation box at the front counter where you can contribute to Keep the Heat On, and we’ll be selling 20th Anniversary t-shirts with proceeds going to this vital program.
One of the highlights of our anniversary celebration will be the release of a special 20th Anniversary Blend. This limited-edition coffee reflects the unique flavors that have defined Mad River over the years. This special roast embodies the spirit of adventure and quality that our company is known for. It’s a sweet, full-bodied, easy-to-drink coffee that we can’t wait for you to try. Don’t forget to put your name into our raffle to win a bag of our 20th-anniversary special release!
Founded in 2005, Mad River Coffee Roasters started as a small coffee shop with a mission to provide high-quality, sustainably sourced coffee. We believed in quality coffee, an inclusive community, and an unpretentious atmosphere. As our vision began to take shape we started with a lineup of five signature blends: Mad River Blend, Morning Mayhem, Mountain Storm, Lunar Eclipse, and Decaf. Over the years, we’ve introduced seasonal favorites like Mud Season and Autumn Blend, and in the last four years, we’ve expanded our offerings to include single-origin roasts that highlight specific regions and women-owned farms. From light to dark, we have a roast for everyone. On any given day, you can smell the aroma of freshly roasted coffee wafting through the air from the dam and all the way up to Exit 29. We’ve had our fair share of fire department visits due to the smoke!

People often ask, “How did you get started?” The answer is simple and as old as time; it all began with a yellow pad of paper, a pencil, and a cup of coffee at the kitchen table. Understanding that coffee often upset his stomach, Dave spent two years experimenting with a tabletop roaster, where he roasted one pot at a time, diligently searching for beans and blends that were smooth and easy to drink. Armed with a degree in entrepreneurialism, his trusty yellow notepad, and the energy of youth, he took a leap of faith and bought his first five-pound coffee roaster. That very machine still resides in the front room of our coffee house as a reminder of our humble beginnings.
On our first day of business, nerves ran high, and we decided to charge just $1 for everything. We figured that would make the math easy! Our espresso machine was second-hand, our stove was a vintage 1970s yellow, and our cast iron skillet was unseasoned. Those first few months were a whirlwind of learning experiences, but they shaped the foundation of what Mad River Coffee Roasters would become.
At the heart of Mad River Coffee Roasters is our deep connection to the community. Over the past two decades, we have raised funds for our local food pantry, hosted local artists sharing their works, and donated coffee baskets for all the local school and group events. We’ve created a gathering place for friends and neighbors through programs like our weekly Knit Nights, free Wi-Fi, and Après ski music.
Looking to the future, we remain committed to our core values: quality coffee and food, sustainability in coffee sourcing, and fostering an inclusive community space. The next chapter promises to be just as exciting, with plans for new blends, collaborations, and continued efforts to support ethical coffee sourcing and greater community engagement.
Whether you have been with us for years or new to the Mad River Coffee family, there’s no better time to visit the café and join in the celebration. Let’s raise a mug to 20 years of excellence and community spirit at Mad River Coffee Roasters! We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
